Spring is Here!

Eileen, Hannah, and Margaret in the morning sunshine

Spring is finally here and we've been making the most of it!  Rob's vision of a backyard for the kiddos is really paying off.  All three girls love playing in the grass on the big blue blanket and Hannah squeals with glee watching the twins ride their bikes around in circles on the deck.  Eileen and Margaret helped Rob plant our very first vegetable garden and have been making excellent use of their birthday watering cans.  We should be harvesting our first crop (baby bok choy) in just a couple of weeks.  Thanks to Cary we added a delightful fairy garden for the girls and a super cute playhouse/tree fort arrived from Cary and Pop Pop to surprise the twins one evening (thank you again, Care and Pop Pop).  To top it all off, we had our first 2014 run through the sprinkler afternoon this week (when it hits 70 degrees in Seattle in April you treat it like a summer day).  I am so glad to be getting outside again.  Nothing makes for happier girls than a little sunshine.

Eileen and Margaret have really settled into their preschool in Greenlake, Alphabet Soup.  They seem happy as larks and have fun talking about their friends and showing off their art projects.  When I pick them up Margaret tells stories about playing tag with the boys and Eileen pretends to be "Rowan", "Kira" or "Alaina".  At home Margaret continues to be "Payson" when she is happy and recently has been very into pretending to be "Baby Margaret".  She has a renewed interest in baby food now that Hannah is eating and we are pretty happy that Hannah refused a pacifier because we are certain Margaret would run off with it every chance she could if one were around.  I took Eileen and Margaret to see Pacific Northwest Ballet's children's production of Pinocchio and at the show Eileen looked at me and said with determination, "I will be a ballerina some day."  She has been keeping that promise by dancing around our living room even more than usual and making great use of the awesome princess costumes from Sophia.  Eileen likes to pretend to be one of the Blue Fairy's attendants from Pinocchio while Margaret dances the part of "the boy who was topless with pants", of course.

I love my Tuesday and Friday mornings with Hannah while the big girls are at school.  It gives me a bit of a breather while Hannah and I go on walks, run errands, and sometimes meet up with friends.  It is very special for me to have some one-on-one time with my little one.  Speaking of my little one, Hannah is growing by leaps and bounds and rolling all over the place now.  Hannah can scoot backwards and likes to push off of furniture with her little legs to gain some momentum.  No crawling yet but she is practicing getting up on all fours.  We had her six month check-up a little late at seven months and she was 27.25" tall (79th percentile) and weighed 18lbs 12.5ozs (80th percentile).  Hannah LOVES carrots, likes oatmeal, tolerates pears and peaches, and can't stand peas or bananas.  She is still nursing like a champ and wakes up at about 3:00am to eat and then sleeps until 6:00ish.  Hannah is finally getting more regular with her napping but it is tough to stay consistent with two busy big sisters around.  I remember being so sad when the twins moved to just one nap a day and I can't believe I'm saying it but things will be much easier when Hannah hits that milestone.  It is not easy keeping two 3 year olds quiet while the baby sleeps.  Here are some of our favorite photos from the past month or so...

Margaret loves to feed Hannah and loves to sneak in a few bites for herself

The twins love to play "baby birds" with Nona.  Usually they run and snuggle on the couch (aka nest) when the "storm" is coming but on this beautiful day they played outside.  Hannah was content to watch and chew on a cup.

Eileen is an excellent puzzle maker
