The twins first trip!

At the train station in Seattle (thanks for the ride, Shannon!)

We got home Monday night from a wonderful 3 day weekend in Portland to see my brother Jim graduate from medical school at OHSU.  Congrats, Dr. Stier!  We decided to take the train instead of drive and it was a fabulous decision.  Margaret slept almost the entire way down and back and Eileen looked around and sat quietly when she wasn't sleeping.  Boy, you practically feel like a celebrity when you have twin babies...the girls got tons of attention!  My mom joined us on the train from Olympia to Portland both ways which made each trip even more fun.

We stayed at the Nines in downtown Portland in order to be close to all of the weekend's festivities.  Our room was absolutely gorgeous and was bigger than many apartments I have lived in!  The girls loved lounging on the big fluffy beds and truly slept like champs in their little crib.  We met Rob's dad, Aunt MJ and Aunt Norma for dinner on Saturday night and rode the MAX to Beaverton on Sunday morning for brunch at Nick and Jenna's. It was really fun to catch up with them and to see their little guy Madden.  Nikki Okamoto came over with her son Brandon and new baby Malia too.  So many babies!  That evening we had Great Grandma Eileen and Great Grandpa Bob and my mom and dad over to our room for Jim's homemade pina coladas before graduation dinner.  We then met Great Grandpa Bud and Aunt Becky at Jake's Grill.  Warning...the appetizer plates can feed at least 12 people each!

Monday morning we were up bright and early for graduation and somehow made it out of the room a half hour ahead of schedule.  Things were really easy in Portland with the girls.  It was very emotional for me to see Jim graduate.  I can't believe how fast the four years went since we all gathered for his white coat ceremony as he started out at OHSU.  We are all so proud of Jim and all that he has accomplished and will miss him so much as he starts his residency in New Orleans.  However, we are really excited for his next adventure and can't wait to visit!
