Big Girl Beds

The toddler proofing continues!!!  Yesterday morning we had to take the plunge and turn the girls' cribs into toddler beds.  Door knob covers have also gone on since they suddenly are now tall enough to open doors.

For the past few weeks Eileen and Margaret have been practicing their climbing skills by freely vaulting in and out of each other's cribs instead of napping but Margaret took it to a new level this past Monday by climbing out of her crib and meeting me in the kitchen during nap time.  Imagine my surprise when I turned around to her "hello!".  All of this is hard for me because I feel like they are still so little (and by little I mean young) and really should still be in cribs.  However, we want to make sure they stay safe and don't hurt themselves with all of their climbing.  So the cribs have become toddler beds and the girls don't seem phased in the least.

When I went in to check on them before I went to sleep last night, Eileen was on the floor and Margaret was in Eileen's bed.  Just now I found Margaret on the floor and Eileen in her bed.  Luckily neither even stirred when I picked them up to tuck them in.  So far the night transition has been easy.

Their nap today was a riot.  They basically had a party in their room for an hour and a half.  There was no crying, just laughing and screaming as they chased each other in circles.  I discovered we aren't going to be able to spend time on the deck during naps anymore as they peeked out of the window at me and knocked on the window.  Finally, when I was about to throw in the towel, all got quiet and, I think, they slept for about an hour.  When I heard them again I went in and found both of them on the floor.  It looked like they fell asleep mid chase.  Keep your fingers crossed for tonight...I'm off to bed.
