First Trip to the Oregon Coast

Margaret and Eileen in Cannon Beach, Oregon

With the girls' Uncle Jim in town from New Orleans, we decided to take a long weekend with Nona and Grandpa Jeff April 19 - 22 for Eileen and Margaret's first trip to the Oregon coast.  Anne Fennessy, a work colleague of Rob's, let us stay in her beautiful vacation home in Gearhart, Oregon for the weekend...gorgeous and so generous!

Our home for the weekend...aka the "other people's house" as Eileen and Margaret like to say

Margaret took off running with her first glimpse of the "big ocean"...that little girl can run so fast!  The girls quickly learned not to get too close to the water when, as Leenie likes to say, an "enormous wave" knocked Momma over.  The truth is I didn't want their little feet to get wet so I tried to swoop them both into my arms at the same time.  Well, they are too big and I am too pregnant for that so into the water we all fell.

The next day we took a fun walk on the beach and explored Gearhart...

On Sunday Rob, Eileen, Margaret, and I left the house bright and early (to let everyone else get some sleep since they girls were up and at them at 6:00 am).  We drove to Seaside to play on the beach before a great breakfast at the Firehouse Grill and then drove down to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for the girls' first tour.  They loved it, especially when they saw Santa Claus (seriously, his doppelganger) at the cafe.  We then met Nona, Grandpa Jeff, and Uncle Jim for lunch at Mo's in Cannon Beach (thanks, Uncle Jim!) and when the rain finally let up we played on the beach.

On Monday we took one last walk on the beach in Gearhart before heading home.  Why is it that the last day of vacation is always the best weather?  What an absolutely gorgeous morning!
